The latest art exhibit at NYC’s ARTECHOUSE merges human creativity with AI
Kicking off the program is Turkish artist Refik Anadol, who recently wrapped up a career-defining retrospective at the gallery’s Washington outpost. He now unveils Machine Hallucation, a never-before-seen synesthetic reality experiment that challenges spatial perceptions by recasting more than three million 3-D images of New York City architecture in an entirely new dimension. Machine Hallucation sheds light on the connections we unknowingly forge between moments within Manhattan’s distinctive building culture and history. “It offers a glimpse into the future of architecture itself,” says Anadol, whose previous site-specific digital projects have never utilized technology of this scale and caliber. "At ARTECHOUSE, we've always strived to bring the future of art into the present," Sandro Kereselidze, founder and Chief Creative Officer of ARTECHOUSE said in a statement.

Refik Anadol, a Turkish, Los Angeles-based artist collected over 3 million images of New York City to showcase in a proprietary AI algorithm that shifts and changes before your very eyes. The algorithm reveals hidden connections between the images and creates a flowing visual effect as buildings, streets, parks, and skylines seamlessly blend together like the shifting sands of a windy desert. It seems the artist took some inspiration from the classic pin art toys that you can also find at the AR Bar located in the installation.
